Sun-drenched Family Session | Roseville CA

Happy 2018 Everyone!! Now that my end of the year busy season has died down I am finally able to sit down at my desk with my warm cup of coffee on this cold rainy day and reminisce about the sun-drenched family sessions that made the last few months of 2017 so special for me.

Today I am sharing a sweet little session that I adored. This little guy and his family were so much fun (even Grandma showed up to watch). At first he wasn't too sure of me but by the end we were having a blast making funny faces, grunting sounds, and giggles.

In- Hospital Newborn Fresh 48 | Roseville CA

In-Hospital Fresh 48 session baby

The moment I walked into the hospital room I could tell that he was their first born The way they so carefully held him and rocked him. The care that dad took when he showed off his impressive swaddling skills. The way they stared at him endlessly. He was less than 24 hours old when I arrived and already you could tell that their world would never be the same. Watching them I realize that they will remember parts of this time forever. There will be some moments and details that will be lost as time goes on.

When I look back on those moments in the hospital with my first born it all seems like such a blur. The exhaustion was only overcome by the immense love that had washed over my husband and I. I always consider that time as a kind of surreal fog that surround us. Although those moments with my newborn in the hospital were incredibly brief they were incredibly powerful too. I only wish I had taken more photos. More photos of the tiny details. The hospital bassinet that my babes were once small enough to fit in. The tiny ankle bands with "Baby Boy Ravera" printed on them. Anything that would make those moments tangible and not just distant memories.

That is why I am always so completely honored when a family invites me into this sacred space and allows me to capture them just as they are. Tired, often overwhelmed but utterly drenched in the purest of love.

To every family that has every trusted me to illustrate this amazing part of their family's story, thank you from the bottom of my. To every family who is expecting and is considering me as their newborn photographer, I promise you that I will always tell your story in a way that will allow you to
